Caritas Vietnam (VN) and the Caritas Dioceses have been incorporating to implement the project about pro-life since 2012. The activities and training courses to help Caritas Dioceses have specialized staffs and collaborative groups to work together in pro-life section. In the following years, the collection of aborted fetus is still carried out and promoted more than other activities in the Dioceses. The activity has been considered under its effectiveness and meaning, because the number of abortions is increasing. Facing to this situation, the Pro-life sector of Caritas VN changes its approach by focusing on prevention. Therefore, communication and consultation will be promoted to raise awareness for young people and communities.
Caritas VN contributes to reducing abortion from young people in Dioceses through raising awareness about the value of life for the community.
The target audience is young people and their families, especially focus on young people and Catholic couples.
- To raise awareness of life values for young Catholics in Dioceses to help them say NO to abortion.
- To build a strong team of communicators and counselors at the diocesan and parish levels through the Caritas network in Dioceses.
- Disseminate life values through communication channels to readers, focusing on online channels.
- Organize training courses to improve communication skills, counseling on the value of life and protection of the fetus for the communicators and counselors at diocesan Caritas levels.
- Support Caritas Dioceses to organize communication and counseling on the value of life and protection of the fetus.
- Link and cooperate with hospitals, health centers, schools, etc. to organize communication sessions and counseling for young people at risk of abortion.
Since 2012, the project has gone through many stages with different ways of operating, the Caritas Dioceses participating in the project has also changed. Up to now, Caritas VN is collaborating with 16 Caritas Dioceses to jointly implement the next project. This result was from the mobilization, support and association between Caritas VN and Diocesan Caritas offices in continuous efforts to limit the abortion among young people. Specifically, from 2015 until now, the number of communications conducted by Diocesan Caritas is 136, the number of training sessions is 13, the number of counseling sessions for pregnant women is 268, the number of shelters which is protecting orphans as well as pregnant mothers is 17. Besides, the number of buried babies is 62,388. In addition, the diocesan network also has 750 volunteers working in diocesan Caritas.
CALL FOR COOPERATION
A new project within 3 years (2019-2022) will be implemented in cooperation between Caritas Vietnam and 16 Caritas Dioceses. The objective of the project is to raise awareness of the value of life among young people and limit the rate of abortion. This is challenge for Caritas VN and the Caritas Dioceses, especially in the context of abortion becoming popular and easy to implement. It is not only some one’s challenge but also a challenge for those who want to collaborate with us. Clean water is an invaluable resource and is becoming scarce. The proportion of people lacking clean water is increasing, whether in urban or rural areas. Clean water is becoming ever more necessary because water plays a very important role in human life. In rural areas, especially in remote areas, the proportion of people access to clean water to use for daily life is less, while the local water source is gradually polluted due to the pollution; agricultural, industrial wastes and even bad habits of the people.
The purpose of the project is to address the marginalized and vulnerable situation of people with disabilities (PWDs) and people with H (PWHs) with a comprehensive, multi-dimensional community-based approach to promoting participation, and social integration of PWDs and PLHIV in all dimensions of life.
Migration from rural to urban areas is becoming a challenge in big cities. One of the essential needs of immigrants is their children's study. Due to the barriers of paper, procedures, finance ... the children of immigrants face many difficulties, especially those with low economic conditions.
In recent years, the situation of human trafficking in the world and in Vietnam has been increasing and becoming more sophisticated. Every year, around 800,000 to 1,000,000 people worldwide are trafficked. Among them, about 2.5 million people are directly victims of human trafficking, mostly women and young girls.
“Path to light” means opening a bright future for the children, helping them and their relatives to keep their hope alive and confidence in human love.
