  • On May 7, 2021 Caritas Hanoi donated 52 million VND to share with people affected by the epidemic in village 5 Dong Yen, Chan Ly commune, Ly Nhan district, Ha Nam province. The Covid-19 pandemic is having serious reprecussions all over the world.  Many provinces and cities in Vietnam have had cases of covid-19.

Ha Nam is one of the provinces with complicated outbreaks of community spread.  Village 5 Dong Yen, Chan Ly commune, Ly Nhan district, Ha Nam province implemented social isolation on May 1, 2021.  There are 320 households in the village with a total of 1,200 people.  Many normal activities have become difficult due to the isolation requirements.

In order to share the burden of the people here, Fr John B. Nguyen Van Quang, director of Caritas Hanoi, drew from the emergency fund to buy 3.8 tons of rice and other valuable necessities, worth more than 52 million VND.  Fr Joseph Dao Ba Thuyet, in charge of Caritas Ly Nhan district, and Father Joseph Nguyen Van Binh, of the parish of Dong Yen, will be responsible for distributing these donations at village 5 Dong Yen.

The value of the gift is not much compared to the difficulties that people here are experiencing, but it may still bring them encouragement as they overcome the pandemic.

May God have mercy on the sick and repel the Covid-19 pandemic so that everyone can enjoy a peaceful and happy life.
