Jesse Thistle spent more than a decade on the streets and in jail. But despite this he has managed to become an expert on the culture of his Indigenous Canadian ancestors - with the help of his mother, from whom he was separated as a young child.

A young man took out a bill of 20,000 to give it to her, but then put it in his pocket and politely asked her: “it is getting dark and has been raining all afternoon.  You must be very hungry.  I invite you to eat hot pho to warm your stomach.”

Caritas Vietnam: Visiting Families in Need on World Day of the Poor

In response to Pope Francis’ command to “stretch forth your hand to the poor” (Sir 7:32), on the 4th annual World Day of the Poor, a Caritas Vietnam delegation led by the new National Director, Fr. Joseph Ngo Si Dinh, OP., recently visited and gave gifts to local needy families.
