Caritas is launching an emergency appeal to help those displaced in Burkina Faso. Caritas Burkina Faso warns that more than 2.2 million people will go hungry in the country in coming months due to conflict and extreme weather conditions if no help is given.
In terms of the coronavirus, overcrowding can be a killer. In countries such as Bolivia the plight of prisoners has been a long-term concern for Caritas. This concern is becoming more urgent as the pandemic spreads across Latin America and the number of victims rise.
In 2019, 33,4 million people were forced into the harsh road of exile across 145 countries. Victims of violence, fear, and above all victims of an unjust system, they have been forced to leave their homes to leap into the unknown destiny where they will have to face hardships, pain, anguish and trauma. Women, children and the elderly are the worst affected. Thus joining the hundreds of millions of refugees all over the world.
