Pope Francis on April 11 addressed participants in a Vatican conference that examined the implementation of the Pastoral Orientations on Human Trafficking.
Some 843 people were killed by the storm and subsequent flooding across flat rural areas in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi. Hundreds of thousands of people throughout all three countries are displaced and in need of food, water and shelter. Caritas Mozambique and its global partners are providing support to affected families.
Cylone idai has caused unprecedented havoc in southern Africa. Vast areas of Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe are under water and cut off from the world. More than 1,000 are feared dead.
